PuroClean is Turning Military Discipline into Business Success

Here’s what you’ll learn after reading this article:

  • PuroClean’s PuroVet Program served as a Silver Sponsor for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society gathering at the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit.
  • The gala brought together Medal of Honor recipients, military leaders, veterans, and community supporters to recognize extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and service.
  • PuroClean representatives hosted distinguished guests at their table, including Vietnam veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Terry Richardson, who helped save 85 soldiers during combat.

PuroClean’s PuroVet Program was proud to serve as a Silver Sponsor of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society gathering in Detroit, supporting an evening of recognition and gratitude at MotorCity Casino Hotel. The gala brought together Medal of Honor recipients, military leaders, veterans, and community supporters to honor extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and service.

For our team, the evening was especially meaningful because of the distinguished guests who joined our table—and the opportunity to thank them personally.

A Memorable Evening With Distinguished Guests

Joining Frank Torre, Vice Chairman of PuroClean, and Paul Edelstein of NVBDC at our table were:

  • Major General (Ret.) Cornell Wilson
  • Brigadier General (Ret.) Richard Miller
  • Major General (Ret.) Richard Smith
  • Steve Gruber, The Steve Gruber Show
  • Commandant Robert Middleton
  • Colonel (Ret.) Mark Gerhard
  • Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) `Terry Richardson, Medal of Honor recipient
  • Mrs. Betty Richardson

Sharing the evening with these guests was a privilege. Their presence made the gathering personal, connecting PuroVet’s commitment to the military community with individuals whose lives reflect leadership, service, and dedication to others.

Honoring Terry Richardson’s Extraordinary Courage

We were particularly honored to welcome Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Terry Richardson and Mrs. Betty Richardson.

A Michigan native and Vietnam veteran, Richardson received the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions on September 14, 1968, near Loc Ninh, Vietnam. While serving as a staff sergeant, he repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire to rescue wounded soldiers and continued directing airstrikes despite being wounded himself. His actions helped save the lives of 85 fellow soldiers.

Having Richardson at our table gave the evening special significance. It was an opportunity to honor a Vietnam veteran whose extraordinary courage exemplifies putting others before oneself—and to recognize the lifetime of service behind that distinction.

Frank Torre’s Commitment to the Military Community

For Frank Torre, supporting veterans is a commitment reflected in his continued advocacy for PuroClean’s PuroVet program and veteran business ownership.

That commitment brought personal meaning to the sponsorship. Attending alongside military leaders, a Medal of Honor recipient, and fellow supporters reinforced the relationships at the heart of PuroVet’s mission.

Torre champions opportunities for veterans to apply their leadership, discipline, and experience to business ownership. Supporting the gala extended that effort by helping honor military service and strengthening connections with the community PuroVet serves.

The evening also provided opportunities for our team to engage with Medal of Honor recipients, veteran leadership, retired generals, and other dignitaries. These encounters reinforced the value of showing up, listening, and expressing gratitude directly.

Carrying Service Into the Next Chapter

PuroVet helps veterans explore becoming PuroClean Franchise Owners, and a new way to serve their communities. In property damage restoration, that service means helping families and businesses recover when disaster disrupts their lives.

Our participation in the gala reflected the same commitment to people and community. Honoring those who have served and supporting veterans as they build their futures are closely connected parts of our mission.

We were proud to support this gathering and grateful to everyone who shared our table. To Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Terry Richardson, his fellow Medal of Honor Society recipients, and the military families represented throughout the evening: thank you for your sacrifice, your service, and the example you continue to set.
