Brigadier General (Ret.) Dick Miller brings more than three decades of distinguished military leadership, corporate experience, and service to the veteran community to his continued mission of helping veterans succeed after leaving the uniform.
General Miller served 33 years as an Infantryman, culminating in his role as Deputy Commanding General of the 38th Infantry Division of the Indiana National Guard. A combat veteran of Afghanistan, he served as the senior military advisor to an Afghan Army Corps commander and commanded Embedded Tactical Trainers operating from Kandahar.
His military career placed him in leadership environments where preparation, accountability, adaptability, and the ability to lead people through difficult circumstances were essential to accomplishing the mission.
General Miller also understands the transition from military leadership to the civilian business world. In addition to his military career, he served as a Senior Vice President of a Detroit-based electronics company, bringing the leadership principles developed through decades of military service into the private sector.
Since retiring from both his military and corporate careers in 2012, General Miller has dedicated significant time and energy to improving opportunities for veterans. His work has included veteran employment, healthcare initiatives, support for soldiers and their families, and programs designed to help veterans successfully navigate life after military service.
He was also involved in establishing the Eisenhower Veteran Care Project at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, an initiative developed to provide treatment and support for veterans experiencing PTSD and traumatic brain injuries.
Today, General Miller brings that lifetime of military, business, and veteran leadership experience to PuroVet. He understands that transitioning veterans possess qualities that are extraordinarily valuable in business ownership: discipline, leadership, resilience, accountability, problem-solving, and the ability to accomplish a mission.
